My name is Edward C. Lopez, Prosoft Engineering Beta Coordinator, and I wanted to thank you for trying Prosoft Engineering's Beta NetWare Client 5.12 for Mac OS! I expect you will be pleased with the Beta 1 client which includes support for NetWare IPX printing and both bindery and NDS login via the chooser!
The "NetWare Installer (MWSF)" installs a Beta 1 version of the NetWare Client 5.12 that expires February 1, 1999. Please visit the Prosoft Engineering web site for the latest product information and to download the latest release of the NetWare Client 5.12 for Mac OS.
Please read, save and/or print the product release notes presented during the install process. They contain important information about using the NetWare Client 5.12. We welcome your feedback and input regarding NetWare connectivity solutions. Please be informed of some important information about how to report problems you may encounter during the beta period.
Please DO NOT call Novell Support Connection with questions about the 5.12 Beta Release or future Beta releases. All beta communication should be directed to Prosoft Engineering. To facilitate communication Prosoft Engineering has setup the following resources.
1) NW4Mac Listserver
To communicate better as a group we encourage beta testers to join the NW4Mac listserver. Prosoft Engineering will push beta information out to beta testers via the Listserver (e.g. new builds, testing instructions). To subscribe send an E-mail message to Majordomo@listserve.prosofteng.com. Include "subscribe NW4Mac" in the body of the message.
We expect also that by sharing and discussing possible bugs before writing a bug report that problems will be better isolated. If others on the list can duplicate a problem that you have found, this will help us better understand the conditions of the problem.
2) Search & Send NetWare Bug Database
If you have found a problem with one of the Prosoft Engineering NetWare for Mac OS products we want to hear about it! We may already know about the problem. You can search our existing database using your Internet Web browser to see if the problem has already been reported. If it looks like you have found a new problem you can report it via the Internet too.
You will want to make sure you can duplicate the problem and have made note of the system variables in use (e.g. Mac OS version, machine type, network card info, etc.). You may want to post the problem description to the NW4Mac listserver for added comments and feedback from other beta testers before you actually log the Software Problem Description (SPD) to Prosoft Engineering.
You can access the bug database using the links found in the Beta Connection area of the web site. When asked for a user name and password, leave the User ID blank and "NW4MacBeta" for the password (case sensitive).

This Beta release is pre-release software and it is NOT recommended for installation on production machines. Please read the Release Notes included in each new download of the product.
